Independence Day: a time to gather, observe, and toast to our freedom. As the Fourth of July weekend rapidly approaches and increased travel is anticipated, our Toyota of Plano team wants to remind our readers to stay alert this holiday weekend. 

Since 1998, nearly a thousand children have lost their lives while trapped inside a hot vehicle, and according to the National Safety Council, in 2019 alone, 53 children died in vehicles due to heatstroke. While this may seem easily avoidable, the statistics are staggering. By an overwhelming margin, more than half of these deaths stem from a child simply being forgotten within the cabin.

Spring has officially sprung in Plano, and with several holidays to look forward to, our Toyota of Plano team and Plano community have a lot to celebrate this season. In fact, Easter celebrations are already in full swing. This week, as we transition back to a “normal” Easter for the first time in two years, Plano and surrounding areas will be bustling with festivities. Local churches will resume in-person services, and communities are planning larger neighborhood events. 

If you’re like many of us, during your free time you can be found flipping through Netflix’s top ten TV shows and movies of the week, and with the recent popularity of the Netflix's show Formula 1: Drive to Survive, our Toyota of Plano team is ready to put Toyota’s vehicles to the test. The good news is that Toyota Racing has a team of award winning professional drivers that can do that for us!

For many, imagining a time where fully autonomous vehicles are available on the consumer market still seems a lifetime away, but those in the car industry understand that self-driving cars will inevitably enter the market within the next decade, or so. Like many of our peers, our Toyota of Plano team looks forward to the impressive vehicle improvements to come. In fact, Toyota Engineering is working with the University of Michigan in an effort to make autonomous vehicles that will support and more harmoniously coexist with drivers.
