We are excited to announce the expansion of Toyota of Plano’s local athletic sponsorship initiative to include both The Colony High School in Lewisville and Creekview High School in Carrollton. Our athletic sponsorship initiative allows us to support the youngest members of our community, through providing the resources necessary to ensure that our kids can safely participate in after-school activities.
Studies have consistently shown that participation in after-school activities leads to higher educational attainment, lower truancy rates and an overall higher student self-esteem. Athletic programs are some of the most popular extracurriculars available to our children, but in order to safely participate in many of these sports, players are required to wear safety equipment. Safety standards have drastically improved within the past several years, and those kids without access to updated sports gear are put at a disadvantage and are at greater risk of injury. Toyota of Plano recognized this issue and has since focused on providing the updated safety equipment needed to promote safe participation in these popular after-school programs.
When asked about this news, John Phelan, the General Manager at Toyota of Plano said “previously, we had primarily focused on building our initiative within the Plano Independent School District, but this expansion will allow us to positively impact a larger community”.
