Toyota has created a track-tuned minivan. No, it's not a tongue-in-cheek joke like the infamous "Swagger Wagon" ad campaign, which featured hip-hop singing suburban families ironically proving the Toyota Sienna could be "cool." This time, the automaker is serious.

Track-tuned Toyota Camry stock cars already perform admirably in NASCAR, so why not give the lineup's all-star minivan the same treatment? The result was the Toyota Sienna R-Tuned.

  • Race-tuned shocks
  • Custom front alignment
  • Custom cold air intake
  • 18x10-inch wheels with wheel spacer
  • Radial performance tires
  • Heavy-duty brakes
  • Carbon-fiber hood
  • 4-point roll bar
  • Race seats and 6-point harness

These are only a few of the improvements made to get the minivan ready to compete in One Lap of America -- a race dating back to 1984. The race covers a dozen states, with over 2,800 miles of travel condensed into seven days, interspersed with 17 separate timed and head-to-head events. The comfortably road-trip worthy Sienna minivan had a chance to shine both on the track and off.

Out of 75 entrants, the Sienna R-Tuned ranked 21st overall, which is not bad at all considering the competition was populated by much lighter sports cars with lower centers of gravity, and that the Sienna R-Tuned was running on the van's stock engine, a 3.5-liter, 300-horsepower V6.
