Be Familiar with Your Roadside Emergency Kit

Familiarize yourself with the things in your emergency roadside kit. Complete ready-made kits are for sale, or you can create a custom one.

Emergency roadside kits should contain a first aid box, reflective triangles, flares, and a flashlight with good batteries. If you have room, a small tool kit with household supplies may come in handy.

Some items to have in the first aid kit are sterile gauze, triangle bandage, sterile gloves, alcohol wipes, antibacterial ointment, and band-aids.

Triangles and flare alert oncoming drivers to trouble ahead. When a roadside emergency occurs, pull off the street as far as safely possible. If you can get out of the car, set out the triangles or flares. If there is too much traffic, stay in the vehicle and call for help.

The toolkit should have some screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers. Carry some duct tape, string, or wire in the toolbox. It is convenient to have a multifunctional tool or pocket knife.

Hopefully, you will never have a roadside emergency, but if you do, you’ll have some equipment at your disposal.

Be sure to have your vehicle regularly maintained and inspected. Our service technicians here at Toyota Of Plano conveniently located in Plano, TX are here to help.
